VIN INTRODUCTION
In 1986 after a review of the various terminologies and their pathologic criteria the International Society for the Study of Vuvlovaginal Disease recommended that the multiple terms used to describe intraepithelial neoplasia of the vulva be combined into a single category called Vulvar Intraepithelial Neoplasia (VIN).  The VIN terminology was also recommended by the ISGP’s committee on vulvar non-neoplastic disorders and accepted by the WHO.  VIN is now the standard colposcopic terminology, although a new terminology will be discussed. Over the past few decades, the VIN incidence has increased rapidly.
